Calderón to make V8 3.5 debut in Bahrain
13 November 2017 – Sauber development driver Tatiana Calderón will make her World Series Formula V8 3.5 debut at this weekend's finale in Bahrain.
Colombian racer Calderón, 24, whose full-time 2017 programme has been in GP3, will reunite with RP Motorsport, which she raced for in Euroformula Open last year.
She joins regular RP drivers Roy Nissany and Yu Kanamaru in a third entry.
Calderón scored a podium finish at the Bahrain International Circuit when she raced there in 2015 as part of her MRF Challenge Formula 2000 campaign.
"I'm very much looking forward to competing in Bahrain in the Formula V8 3.5 World Series," said Calderón.
"It's a great car to drive and Bahrain is one of my favourite tracks; it went well when I raced there in MRF two years ago, and I also raced with RP in F3.
"It will be my first race with a pit-stop, which will be interesting, and the Michelin tyre is also quite a bit different to the Pirelli rubber I am used to in GP3.
"There will be a lot of things to learn, but it will be a useful experience.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge."
Calderón sits 17th in the GP3 standings ahead of next weekend's finale at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit, having scored points at Monza and Jerez.
